The Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a drowning that occurred in Precinct Three on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. on the Chattahoochee River near 3700 Akers Drive.

Precinct Three officers were dispatched to the above location in reference to a person drowning. Witnesses stated an adult male attempted to swim across the Chattahoochee River. The male was unable to make it across the river, went under the water, and did not surface again.

The Cobb County Police Department Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT) located and recovered the body of the male on September 22, 2019 at 12:49 p.m.

The male was identified as 19-year-old James Strock. Next of kin has been notified.
