Fatal Crash Investigations

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred at 9:10 p.m. on Friday night, February 7th. According to investigators, a blue 2007 Hyundai Tiburon was turning left from the driveway at 1640 South Cobb Drive onto the roadway. A black 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer was southbound on South Cobb Drive approaching the intersection with that private drive. As the Hyundai made its turn it entered the path of the Trailblazer and the two vehicles collided. The front of the Trailblazer struck the left side of the Tiburon.

The driver of the Tiburon, 17-year-old Andre Cordero of Acworth, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, 17-year-old James Rosales of Kennesaw, was transported to Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Trailblazer, 38-year-old Lisa James of Powder Springs, was transported to Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries.

The STEP Unit is also investigating another fatal traffic crash, this one on East West Connector at the entrance to Tramore Village Apartments at 2222 East West Connector on Sunday night, February 9th at 7:18 p.m. According to investigators, a tan 2018 Toyota Tacoma was eastbound on East West Connector preparing to turn left into Tramore Village Apartments. A black 2013 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle was westbound on East West connector approaching that same intersection. When the Tacoma turned left in front of the motorcycle the front of the Harley crashed into the right side of the Toyota.

The driver of the Harley, 50-year-old Steven Fitzgerald of Marietta, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Tacoma, 26-year-old Stanley Anderson of Atlanta, was transported to Cobb Hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, 24-year-old Michael Tucker of Marietta, was transported to Cobb Hospital with serious injuries.
