The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on March 21, 2019 at 6:21 a.m. on Riverside Parkway near the I-20 overpass.

Per investigators, a pedestrian identified as 66-year-old Sidney D. Tharpe of Roaring River, NC, was walking north on Riverside Parkway near the I-20 overpass.  A black 2010 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 47-year-old David Porter of Austell, was traveling south on Riverside Parkway near the I-20 overpass and struck Sidney D. Tharpe. Sidney D. Tharpe was pronounced deceased on scene.
