Fatal Traffic Collision

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on March 24, 2019 at 3:01 p.m. on C.H. James Parkway approaching the intersection of Humphries Hill Road.

Per investigators, black 2004 Ford F-150 was traveling south on C.H. James Parkway approaching the intersection of Humphries Hill Road. A gray 2015 Nissan Rogue was traveling north on C.H. James Parkway. The driver of the Nissan attempted to turn left on to Humphries Hill Road and collided with the front of the Ford.

A passenger in the front seat of the Nissan sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. She was identified as 82-year-old Francis E. Walls  of Atlanta. The driver of the Nissan was identified as 62-year-old Shelley K. Wimpey of Douglasville. She was transported to Grady Hospital for injuries that are not expected to be life threatening. The driver of the Ford was identified as 20-year-old Blair A. Rivers of Austell and he sustained minor injuries but was treated on scene.
