Fatal Traffic Collision

Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred at Town Center Mall, 400 Ernest Barrett Parkway, on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at 6:49 p.m.

According to investigators, a white 2006 Chevrolet Express van was stopped in an aisle of the parking lot on the west side of the mall. The Chevrolet was facing west and was waiting to turn onto Ring Road. A grey 2013 Suzuki YZFR1 motorcycle was traveling west in the aisle of the parking lot behind the Chevrolet Express van. The front of the Suzuki YZFR1 motorcycle collided with the rear of the Chevrolet Express van. 

The Chevrolet Express van was projected west and came to a final rest partially in the aisle of the parking lot and on Ring Road. The Suzuki YZFR1 motorcycle continued west and came to a final rest on its right side, east of the Chevrolet Express van. 

The driver of the Chevrolet Express van, 23-year-old Jesus Ramirez of Marietta, and occupant by 31-year-old Juan Cardenas of Marietta were not injured in the collision.

The driver of the Suzuki YZFR1 motorcycle, 25-year-old Tekorey Jones of Kennesaw, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
