The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the pedestrian as 35-year-old Osman Velasquez of Marietta. His next of kin has been notified.

Fatal Traffic Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Windy Hill Road at Olive Springs Road on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 7:12 p.m.

According to investigators, a gray 2013 Kia Optima was traveling east on Windy Hill Road approaching its intersection with Olive Springs Road on a green traffic signal, while a pedestrian was crossing Windy Hill Road west of the intersection and not utilizing the crosswalk. The front of the Kia collided with the pedestrian.

The driver of the Kia Optima, 27-year-old Mia M. Ledbetter of Holly Springs, North Carolina, was not injured.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. His name is being withheld, pending the notification of his next of kin.
