Fatal Traffic Collision

The Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Hadaway Road east of Twin Oaks Drive on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at 4:49 p.m. 

According to investigators, a burgundy 2001 Yamaha CW5ON-R scooter traveled west on Hadaway Road approaching the bridge over Allatoona Creek. The Yamaha collided with the southern curb and the eastern end of the southern bridge rail. The Yamaha came to final uncontrolled rest at the end of the bridge rail on its left side. The male continued in a westerly direction and came to final uncontrolled rest in Hadaway Road's eastbound lane on the bridge. A black 2008 BMW 328i was traveling east on Hadaway Road approaching the bridge over Allatoona Creek. The front of the BMW collided with the male in the roadway. The male was directed in an easterly direction and came to final uncontrolled rest east of the bridge in Hadaway Road's eastbound lane.

The Yamaha CW5ON-R scooter operator, a 15-year-old juvenile male, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His next of kin has been notified. 

The driver of the BMW 328i, 20-year-old Aaron Owens of Acworth, was not injured.
