The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on South Cobb Drive east of Barclay Circle on March 6, 2019 at 6:09 a.m.

Per investigators, a white 2015 Kia Soul was traveling west on South Cobb Drive east of Barclay Circle. A red 2008 Buick Lucerne was traveling east on South Cobb Drive east of Barclay Circle. The driver of the white Kia Soul crossed over into oncoming traffic of the eastbound lanes of South Cobb Drive and collided with the front of the red Buick Lucerne.

The driver of the white Kia Soul, 24-year-old Kadijah Miller of Marietta, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the red Buick Lucerne, 56-year-old Gerard Smith of Marietta, died on scene as a result of injuries he sustained in the collision. Next of kin have been notified.
