The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred in Precinct Five on Friday, September 13, 2019, at 1:57 p.m. on Powder Springs Road near Hopkins Road.

A blue 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling west on Powder Springs Road in the left lane. A black 2010 Ford Fusion was entering Powder Springs Road from 3460 Powder Springs Road. The black Fusion entered the path of the blue Fusion. The blue Fusion struck the black Fusion on the driver’s side.

The driver of the blue Fusion was identified as 19-year-old Madison Karr. She was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the black Fusion was identified as 79-year-old Carol Boyd. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
