The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred in Precinct One on Thursday, December 19, 2019, on Barrett Lakes Boulevard south of Big Shanty Road. The collision was not witnessed, so the collision time is unknown. The collision was discovered at 4:22 a.m.

A passerby called 911 after noticing a black 2008 Honda Accord off the road in front of 2878 Barrett Lakes Boulevard. Responding officers found a deceased male in the driver’s seat. Per investigators, the Honda was traveling north on Barrett Lakes Boulevard and for unknown reasons failed to negotiate a left curve. The Honda left the eastern side of the roadway and collided with a retaining wall in front of 2878 Barrett Lakes Boulevard.

The driver was identified as 69-year-old James W. Wilson of Marietta. Mr. Wilson’s next of kin has been notified.
