On November 21, 2018 at approximately 6 p.m. The Cobb County Police Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit responded to a fatal pedestrian collision on Austell Road at Hurt Road.

Per investigators, a gold 2009 Toyota Corolla, driven by 45-year-old Kehinde Awe of Marietta, was northbound on Austell Road in the left lane approaching Hurt Road when an adult male pedestrian was running while crossing from the left (west to east) and stepped in front of her vehicle. The traffic signal for traffic on Austell Road was green. The front of the Corolla collided with the pedestrian who became trapped under the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin has not been notified and the deceased’s identity is not being released yet.

Ms. Awe was not injured in the collision.
