After further investigation, three suspects were identified. The following three suspects were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault – Intent to Murder and Felony Murder:

19-year-old Christopher Gutierrez of Smyrna

19-year-old Zackary Franks of Mableton

23-year-old Yainerys Gil of Mableton

The three subjects are currently held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Homicide

On Monday, July 22, 2019 at approximately 12:44 a.m. Cobb County Police Department uniform officers from Precinct Two were dispatched to 612 Hickory Trail in reference to a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located a victim deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old George Anthony Vela of Mableton. Next of kin has been notified.

A witness advised than an unknown subject in a silver sedan with a rear spoiler was involved.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
