On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at approximately 6:44 p.m., Cobb County Police Department Precinct Two uniform officers were dispatched to 2105 Mesa Valley Way in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a victim in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. 

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Ka'Mani' Kirkland of Marietta.

The suspect, 17-year-old Christopher Morris of Austell, was arrested and charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. It appears the shooting was accidental.
