Serious Injury Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred in Precinct Two on Saturday September 28, 2019, at 7:27 p.m. on Riverside Parkway at Premier Lane.

Per investigators, a red 2018 Suzuki GSXR750 motorcycle was traveling west on Riverside Parkway at a speed in excess of the posted 40 mph speed limit. A blue 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling east on Riverside Parkway, preparing to turn left on Premier Lane. The Ford turned left in front of the Suzuki and the vehicles collided in the intersection.

The operator of the Suzuki was identified as 27-year-old Travias D. Deadwyler of Austell. He was transported by ambulance to Grady Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford was identified as 29-year-old Genaro Velasquez Perez of Mableton. He did not require medical attention at the scene.

A juvenile, who was in a car seat in the rear of the Ford, was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Cobb Hospital for treatment of cuts from broken glass.
