Serious Injury Collision (Dec. 31)

The Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on Mableton Parkway at Bonanza Trail on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 7:46 p.m. 

According to investigators, a gray 2005 Honda Civic was traveling east out of Sierra Forest Apartment complex (6660 Mableton Parkway) attempting to cross Mableton Parkway where it intersects with Bonanza Trail, after fleeing an attempted traffic stop. As the Honda entered Mableton Parkway, the driver failed to yield and collided with a gray 2010 Chevrolet Aveo traveling north on Mableton Parkway. The Honda was redirected northeast off the roadway, striking guide wires to a utility pole and coming to a final uncontrolled rest, east of Mableton Parkway, near the wood line. The Chevrolet was redirected east off the roadway coming to an uncontrolled rest, north of Bonanza Trail, near the wood line. 

The driver of the Honda Civic, 24-year-old Kasey Jones of Mableton, was apprehended at the scene and transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; Jones will be transported to Cobb Adult Detention Center upon his release from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

The driver of the Chevrolet Aveo, 27-year-old Carey Sullivan of Mableton, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
