Serious Injury Collision (Nov.9)
The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury traffic collision that occurred on Park Drive at Pat Mell Road on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 1:34 p.m.
According to investigators, a blue 2014 Dodge Caravan was traveling west on Pat Mell Road and was preparing to turn right onto Park Drive while a green 2003 Kawasaki KX125 motocross motorcycle traveled west on the sidewalk along Pat Mell Road approaching Park Drive. The Dodge Caravan initiated a right turn and entered the path of the Kawasaki KX125. The Kawasaki KX125 then fell on its right side and continued west with the Dodge Caravan before coming to an uncontrolled rest on Park Drive.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, 44-year-old Maria Perez Ortiz of Smyrna, was not injured in the collision.
The driver of the Kawasaki KX125, 22-year-old Demetrius Lester of Smyrna, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on Macland Road at Bullard Road on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at 12:01 a.m.
According to investigators, a red 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling east on Macland Road and was preparing to turn left onto Bullard Road while a red 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling west on Macland Road approaching Bullard Road. The Jeep Wrangler initiated a left turn and entered the path of the Nissan Altima, and the front of the Nissan Altima collided with the front of the Jeep Wrangler. The collision caused the Jeep Wrangler to be redirected west as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction and rolled onto its right side. The Jeep Wrangler then came to a final uncontrolled rest on its right side west of the intersection oriented south. The Nissan Altima continued west and came to a final uncontrolled rest in the eastbound lane of Macland Road oriented west.
The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, 24-year-old Allie Strickland of Rockmart, and passenger, 23-year-old Courtney Denton of Marietta, were transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Altima, 18-year-old Evan Northcross of Powder Springs, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone with serious injuries. Passengers, 17-year-old Denarius Birdsong of Powder Springs and 18-year-old Malikaih Jackson of Powder Springs, were transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital with minor injuries.
