Smyrna Traffic Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is assisting the City of Smyrna Police Department with investigating a traffic collision involving a Smyrna police officer. The traffic collision occurred on Spring Street at Roswell Street in Smyrna on Monday, August 24, 2020, at 4:01 p.m. 

According to investigators, the City of Smyrna Police Department was attempting to stop a stolen white 2019 Chevrolet Silverado when the Chevrolet Silverado rammed a marked Smyrna patrol vehicle before fleeing. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado then lost control on Spring Street at Roswell Street, and the Chevrolet Silverado became disabled. Another marked Smyrna patrol vehicle collided with the Chevrolet Silverado during this sequence of events. 

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado fled on foot and has not been identified.

No officers were injured during this incident.
