Traffic Collisions
The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 9:47 p.m. on South Cobb Drive, south of Waldrep Circle.
According to investigators, a red 2011 Ford Focus was traveling south on South Cobb Drive, south of Waldrep Circle, in the left southbound lane when a pedestrian walking west across South Cobb Drive entered the path of the Ford Focus. The front of the Ford Focus collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was projected south and came to rest in the left northbound lane of South Cobb Drive. The Ford Focus came to a final controlled rest in the left southbound lane of South Cobb Drive.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. The pedestrian has not been identified.
The driver of the Ford Focus, 61-year-old Dwayne Tuggle of Marietta, was not injured.

Serious Injury Collision
The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury traffic collision that occurred on Friday, July 3, 2020, at 11:26 p.m. on Old 41 Highway, south of Citation Parkway.
According to investigators, a black 2017 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Old 41 Highway, south of Citation Parkway, while a white 2010 Kia Forte was traveling north on Old 41 Highway, also south of Citation Parkway. The Toyota Corolla failed to maintain its lane of travel and entered the northbound lane of Old 41 Highway. The front of the Toyota Corolla collided with the front of the Kia Forte. Upon impact, the Toyota Corolla was redirected south as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction. The Toyota Corolla came to a final uncontrolled rest in the southbound lane of Old 41 Highway. The Kia Forte was redirected east as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction. The Kia Forte came to final uncontrolled rest in the northbound lane of Old 41 Highway.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, 24-year-old Trevon Jackson of Kennesaw, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Kia Forte, 59-year-old Alfreda Hooks of Kennesaw, and passenger 61-year-old Wanda Woods of Fairfield, Alabama, was transported to WellStar Kennestone with non-life-threatening injuries.
