On October 6, 2019, the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit obtained an arrest warrant (19-W-10280) from the Cobb County Magistrate’s Office for the suspect, 22-year-old Kashman Thomas. The arrest warrant charged Mr. Thomas with Felony Murder, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, and 2 counts of Aggravated Battery.

On October 15, 2019, Mr. Thomas turned himself in to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and the United States Marshalls Task Force. Mr. Thomas is held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Homicide Investigation

On Sunday, October 6, 2019 at approximately 11:40 a.m. Cobb County Police Department uniform officers from Precinct One were dispatched to 3044 Hidden Forest Court in reference to a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a male, lying on the ground near the 4000 building, with a gunshot wound to the back. The male was deceased. Officers located two other victims who had gunshot wounds. It was determined that there had been a dispute between neighbors prior to the shooting.

The deceased victim was identified as 18-year-old Oluwafemi Oyerinde of Lawrenceville. Next of kin has been notified.

The additional victims were identified as 18-year-old Khalil Bennett of Grayson, GA., and 18-year-old Jarius Bonner. Both males were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
