**Update** to Serious Injury Hit and Run

On May 11, 2019 at approximately 7:35 p.m., 59-year-old Lazaro Rodriguez of Lithia Springs, turned himself in to Cobb County Police Officers at Cobb Police Precinct One. Current information is that Rodriguez was driving a black 2007 BMW X3 when he struck the child on Olive Springs Road near Cerice Circle. Rodriguez has been charged with felony Hit And Run.

Serious Injury Hit and Run

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury hit and run collision which occurred on Olive Springs Road at Cerice Circle on May 6, 2019 at 3:45 p.m.

Per investigators, a male juvenile pedestrian was attempting to cross Olive Springs Road at Cerice Circle. As the pedestrian was crossing the roadway, a vehicle traveling south on Olive Springs Road collided with him. After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.

The juvenile was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a dark blue or black BMW X3 sport utility vehicle. The BMW will have damage to the driver side headlight area.
