The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. Saturday, February 09, 2019. Per investigators, a white 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling east on Shallowford Road in front of Lassiter High School. The driver failed to maintain her lane and traveled into the center median where the vehicle collided with two trees.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been identified as 71-year-old Cynthia A. Downing of Roswell. She was initially unresponsive and a passerby started CPR. She was transported by ground ambulance to Kennestone Hospital where she was admitted for treatment. Investigators believe she was suffered from a medical emergency while driving which caused her to lose control of her vehicle. The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
