black and white dog sitting

Shelter arrival date:  05/29/24

Name: Luna
Gender: Spayed Female
Age:   4mos
Size/Weight: 20lbs

ID#: 658113

Medical info: Needs socialization

Eligible for Rescue:  Now!

Specifics: Luna was turned in to the shelter 5/29. Her owner got her in a Walmart parking lot about a month ago. Puppies can be a hand full and her owner realized she had too many kids to be able to train a puppy.

Little Luna has already been shuffled around too many times in her short, four month life, The worst part is she’s stuck in a noisy and scary shelter now! Due to her life’s unpredictability, she is starting to have trust issues. Plus, who knows how stressful her last home was with all those kids! Luna is fearful and ACTS aggressive, but with patience she becomes very loving and friendly. She has not bitten anyone and we want it to stay that way. We want Luna to learn to trust people and grow into the sweet dog she already is inside.

We would love for Lil’ Luna to go to rescue, maybe a rescue’s foster prior to adoption so that she is set up for success. Somewhere she can learn social skills and confidence around new people and places. She should skip a home with young kids for now and live with someone that is willing to take the necessary time working with her. Luna is a sweet girl, will sit for treats, and takes them gently. Luna is spayed, reported to be good with cats, and plays well with another puppy in the clinic.

two Husky dogs sitting

Shelter arrival date:  04/30/24

Name: Memphis, Kovu
Gender: Female, Neutered Male
Age:   5 yrs, 12 yers:
Size/Weight: 52lbs, 50lbs

ID#: 657258, 657259

l info: Both Heartworm negative

Eligible for Rescue:  Now!

Specifics: These two skinny Huskies were surrendered by their owner April 30. Their owner was having personal issues and could no longer care for them. They are reported to be good with kids, housebroken, crate trained, and already altered. They are okay with some dogs, but not all. They love each other though! They both need rescue. The female is having a hard time putting on weight and the male is a senior. Both Kovu and Memphis are well-mannered, knowing commands like sit, stay, shake, and more. Their coats are soft and silky, inviting endless cuddles.

Memphis is a 5yr, 50lb, female. Memphis is a little anxious, but very sweet. During her first exam she trembled with her tail tucked, but allowed the exam and showed no signs of aggression. Our vet put her on Gaba/Traz to help with the anxiety. It’s been about two weeks and she is getting a little more comfortable. She is a big girl but very underweight. Despite the vet staff’s best efforts Memphis is not gaining any weight here. We think she will do much better in a less stressful environment. We were told she is spayed but that has not been confirmed yet. Memphis needs to gain at least 15lbs. She is heartworm negative.

Memphis’ brother is a real gentleman named Kovu. He is 12yrs young and 66lbs. He is getting over an upper respiratory infection and is also very thin. He is slowly gaining weight though (6lbs so far). Because Kovu had a fever, he was moved into isolation but will be going back to Memphis’ cage again soon. He is neutered and heartworm negative.
