Cobb PARKS Director honored at state convention
Congratulations to Cobb PARKS Director Michael Brantley for receiving the Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s (GRPA) 2024 “Distinguished Professional Award.” Brantley was honored during the GRPA’s annual meeting in Columbus, GA.
GRPA is a statewide organization that supports and promotes recreation and park agencies in Georgia while encouraging healthy lifestyles for its residents.
“Michael’s advocacy for parks and recreation continues to drive progress, capital improvements, and land acquisitions for Cobb PARKS,” said Cobb County Manager Dr. Jackie McMorris, who attended the awards ceremony. “His dedication is reflected in the enhanced safety of facilities, the expansion of parks, and the addition of state-of-the-art amenities that have bolstered community engagement. His respect for his staff, unwavering commitment to securing necessary resources, and deep belief in the value of parks and recreation define him as a leader in the field.”
Brantley graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration. He began his career in Cherokee County, Georgia, serving in the recreation and operations divisions. In 2017, he became the Operations Division Manager for Cobb PARKS. Brantley served as President of the Georgia Recreation & Park Association in 2015, and he is a member of NACPRO (National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials) and NRPA (National Recreation & Park Association). He was named Director of Cobb PARKS in 2020.
