Donations help Cobb Firefighters avoid cancer-causing dangers
Studies show firefighters are exposed to various cancer-causing chemicals while fighting building fires, and during a long career, this exposure dramatically increases their chances of getting cancer.
"We don't want these firefighters facing these risks," said Lance LoRusso with the Cobb County Public Safety Foundation. "We do not want them suffering years and years or losing their lives ten years after they retire from a career of protecting us."
The Foundation has donated a "Storm Stick" to the Cobb County Fire Department. The device helps decontaminate firefighters after they finish fighting a fire. The foundation hopes to fully equip the fire department with these decontamination devices in the coming months. To learn more and donate, visit www.ccpsf.org.
