Last week, Cobb County officials and leaders from the company Via came together at Silver Comet Linear Park to launch a new type of transportation service called CobbLinc Go. This new service, run by Via, is a “microtransit” program, which means you can get a ride on demand, right from your phone, similar to Uber or Lyft. CobbLinc Go brings the public transit stop closer to you. When you’re ready to go, book a shared ride straight from your phone and get picked up in a comfortable van or car. Commute or get just about anywhere you need without breaking the bank.

Lisa Cupid, Chair of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, said this pilot program will help the county learn where to add future microtransit options. Via’s technology will give data on things like how often people use the service and how efficiently vehicles are running. This information will help the county decide on future transit improvements.

CobbLinc Go will work with the current CobbLinc bus routes to create a more complete transportation system. The goal is to make transportation in the area more accessible, efficient, and eco-friendly.

This pilot program will replace the current FLEX service in Cobb County. CobbLinc Go will cover more area than the old service and cost the same—$2.50 per ride. The service will be available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This two-year pilot program will give Cobb County time to see how well it works.

With this flexible system, CobbLinc Go will help people in South Cobb get to jobs, schools, and other important places. It will also reduce traffic and provide a greener way to travel.
