Request Absentee Ballot
Any registered voter may apply for an Absentee Ballot via our online application. Applications can only be accepted between 78 and 11 days before an election. Once the application is printed, the below steps should be followed:
- Download the application (see below). Complete all applicable fields, print, and sign.
- Please provide the required physical signature or mark in Section Eight (8).
- Please provide the required Date of Birth in Section Seven (7).
- Please provide the required voter identification in Section Seven (7)
- Absentee Ballot Application(s)
- You may apply for a ballot for a relative who is disabled or out of town, but that ballot will be mailed directly to the voter. The person providing assistance should provide a signature or mark in Section Ten (10) and Section Eleven (11).

Submit Absentee Ballot
- After the Elections Office has received, reviewed, and verified your Absentee Ballot Application, an Absentee Ballot will be mailed to your address between 22 - 29 days prior to the primary or election, or as soon as ballots are available prior to a runoff.
- Once you have received the Ballot and cast your vote,

- The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration Office must receive your ballot by 7 p.m. ET on Election Day.
- Once a ballot has been received by the Elections and Registration Office, it can no longer be canceled.

Can You Vote Absentee?
In order to vote in U.S. elections you must be:
- a U.S. citizen
- at least 18 years old
- be absent from your voting residence
You may vote absentee if you are:
- an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine;
- an eligible spouse or family member of an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine; or
- a U.S. citizen residing outside the U.S.

When is the last day to apply for an Absentee Ballot?
You may apply for an absentee ballot no earlier than 78 days before any primary, election or runoff. An application must be received no later than 11 days before the election, primary or runoff to be processed. Apply for your Absentee Ballot.
How can I return my Absentee Ballot?
- Affix a Forever stamp and return the ballot via U.S. Postal Service to 995 Roswell St NE
Marietta, GA 30060 - Use another carrier such as FedEx or UPS and ship to 995 Roswell St. NE, Marietta, GA 30060.
- Hand-deliver the ballot to the Poll Manager at any Advance Voting location (not Election Day poll)
- Drop it in the drop box located inside specific Advance Voting locations and are open only during advance voting hours. See the advance voting flyer for more details.
- Drop it in the drop box inside the Main Elections office. (only open during advance voting hours)
- Hand-deliver your absentee ballot in person, to an Absentee employee in our main office located at 995 Roswell St. NE, Marietta, GA 30060.
How do I know my Absentee Ballot was counted?
By tracking your Absentee Ballot, you will see when the ballot is received by the Elections Office. Once the ballot has a received date, it has been accepted for counting. All ballots received by 7PM EST on Election Day will be counted, as long as the Oath envelope is completely filled out and signed.

Does my signature have to match my registration? What if it has changed over the years?
You must sign the outer envelope containing the Oath of Elector. We will be comparing the Driver's license number, State Identification Card number, or Social Security number on the envelope to verify your identity.
What if I decide I want to vote in-person after I’ve applied for an Absentee Ballot?
You will have to cancel your Absentee Ballot before you can vote in-person. There are instructions for cancelling your Absentee Ballot below.
Alternatively, you can bring the ballot to the Advance Voting or Election Day polling location and surrender it to the Poll Manager for cancelling. If you don’t have your ballot with you when you arrive at the poll on Election Day, you will need to complete an Affidavit and the Poll Workers will call the office to have the ballot cancelled.
Cancel Your Ballot
If you desire to cancel your Absentee Ballot, please print and complete the Affidavit of Cancelled Absentee Ballot. Please note, that once the ballot has been received by the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration Office, it can no longer be canceled.
Complete the form: fill out the appropriate fields and confirm a physical signature is provided. An electronic/typed signature will not be accepted.
