Why does Cobb County Public Library need my support?
Each day Cobb County Public Library helps people dream, dare, and discover knowledge, skills, and abilities – making Cobb County a better place to live, work, and play. We are committed to being a vital resource center for the community by providing equal access to information, materials, and services.
We couldn’t be successful without your support. Only a portion of our funding comes from government sources; we also rely on corporate sponsorships, The Cobb Library Foundation, and of course, individual donors like you.
Your support helps us:
- Keep our shelves stocked with materials,
- Provide educational, exciting programs for the community, and
- Continue in our mission to inspire lifelong learning.
Book Sale
The library hosts a 3-day semi-annual book sale in the spring and fall. Our book sales bring in people from near and far. One of North Georgia's largest book sales, we have thousands of items for sale. Items range in price from $0.50 - $4.00, and Sunday is BYOB (Bring Your Own Box) Day: fill any size box (you can bodily get back to your car) for a flat rate -- $10 upper level only; $20 lower level only; $20 mixed.
All profits from our book sales go directly to buying more items for the 15 libraries in Cobb County Public Library.
Thank you for supporting our Fall 2024 Book Sale!
Memorial / Honorary Donations
What better way to remember someone than to donate a book or collection of books in their honor?
The best way to make this type of donation is with a check. Library staff will assist in the selection and ordering of books or other library materials. A bookplate is attached to the material. Materials donated in this way must meet library selection guidelines. Individual donations may be made at any branch library. For large donations arrangements may be made through the Administrative Office.

Book Donations
NOTICE: Due to space and storage considerations, some branches may not be able to accept donations at this time. Please call ahead to find out if your local branch is accepting donations.
Cobb County Public Library is pleased to accept donations of books and other items in good condition. To donate books and other items, you may drop them off at any library branch during regular library hours. If you have a large number of books you would like to donate, please call the library in advance to see if that location can handle the donation on any particular day. You will receive a receipt for the number and type of items that you donate. You can get a tax deduction for your donation. Determining the amount you can deduct is your responsibility.
Donated materials not appropriate for the collection are placed in the library's semi-annual book sale. Proceeds are used to buy new materials for all Cobb County libraries. Remember, all donations become the property of the Library when they are received. Once donated books are given to the Library, it is up to the discretion of the Library which items will be put into circulation.
All donations should be packed in boxes with lids. Boxes cannot be returned. We cannot accept donations that are not in boxes, and we are not able to exchange boxes.
