Cobb County Launches MSPLOST Informational Website
Cobb County Launches MSPLOST Informational Website to Detail Proposed Projects
Cobb County has launched a new webpage to inform voters about the Mobility Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (MSPLOST) referendum, which will be on the ballot during the General Election on November 5, 2024.
The website, www.cobbcounty.org/msplost, provides detailed information about the MSPLOST program, including the ballot language and the potential impacts on the community.
The MSPLOST program aims to address Cobb County’s growing population and economy by enhancing the public transportation system to be safer, more flexible, and more reliable. If approved by voters, the one-cent sales tax will provide dedicated funding for operational improvements and service expansion.
Key objectives of the MSPLOST include:
- Community-Tailored Transit: This program supports Cobb’s growing population and economy by offering safe, flexible, and reliable mobility options.
- Expanding Opportunities: Enhances mobility and access to jobs and critical destinations throughout Cobb County.
- Inclusive Access: Increases access for vulnerable and transit-dependent communities that are currently underserved.
- Economic Vitality: Ensures that transit investments sustain and support Cobb’s current and future economy.
- Countywide Service Enhancements: These improve service options, making transit faster, safer, and more reliable and connecting more people to more destinations.
- Planned Investment: A sustainable 30-year investment plan aligned with approved comprehensive planning efforts.
In addition to the website, Cobb County staff will host informational sessions, attend community events, and engage in outreach efforts leading up to Election Day. The website will provide details on the times and locations of these events.
Advanced voting will occur at various locations from October 15 through November 1, 2024 (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.). Election Day is November 5, 2024. For additional election details, visit www.cobbcounty.org/elections or email questions to msplost@cobbcounty.org.
