Small Fee, Big Reward! Starting October 1, 2024, non-residents can continue accessing everything Cobb County Senior Centers offer for just $90 a year. That's less than 25 cents a day!

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners (BOC) initially approved a $90/year non-resident user fee in 2018. Although the non-resident user fee was scheduled to take effect in January 2020, its implementation was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been requested that we implement the non-resident user fee, and we will do so starting Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to coincide with the beginning of the Cobb County fiscal year. Individuals will have the opportunity to pay this until November 1, 2024.

The $90 non-resident fee is an annual fee for using Cobb County Senior Centers. The non-resident user fee allows individuals who are not Cobb County residents to use any of the Cobb County Senior Centers and it will be good for one year from the date of payment. Due to limitations in both our registration system and administrative capacity, we cannot offer monthly or quarterly payment options.

Non-residents user fee payments can be made as early as Monday, September 23 to coincide with fall quarter registration. The user fee is not subject to refunds.

  1. Will fees for classes, events and trips be based on residency?

Prices for all classes, events, and trips will be the same for Cobb residents and non-residents, with non-residents paying the required $90.00 annual user fee.

  1. How do non-residents pay their user fee?

Non-residents may pay their user fees in person at any Cobb County Senior Center or online at cobbseniors.org. Activities beginning in October 2024 will be set with the non-resident user fee as a prerequisite in Civic Rec for classes, events, and activities.*

*(see #5 for non-resident visitors)

  1. As a non-resident, do I have to pay the $90 annual user fee if I only take trips?

Yes. The $90 annual user fee is required to participate in any class, program, event, seminar, ongoing activity, or trip.

  1. Do non-residents who participate in outside organizations/civic groups must pay the user fee?

Non-residents who are members of groups who meet weekly /monthly in our centers will not have to pay the $90 non-resident user fee as long as they only come for the purposes of their meetings. If any members of these outside groups choose to participate in our activities, classes, etc., only then would they be required to pay the $90 non-resident user fee.

  1. Are non-resident visitors required to pay the user fee?

We encourage visitors to explore all Cobb County Senior Services has to offer and experience a center of their choice. Individuals age 55+ who do not reside in Cobb County, may visit a senior center of their choice two times in the course of a calendar year (January-December) free of charge. On the third visit, a $90 annual non-resident fee will be charged. All non-resident visitors may attend ongoing activities such as canasta, billiards, Mahjong, table tennis, arts and crafts, bridge, book club etc. and must sign in at the front desk (trips, quarterly classes, gym, and events are excluded). Please see the Center Manager with specific questions.

  1. Do I need to scan my CCSS card to check-in at the center?

Yes. Everyone participating in ANY activity at our senior centers must obtain a CCSS card and scan it when they enter the building. This includes classes, events, & trips; card games, ping pong, billiards, board games; woodcarving, knitting/crochet, quilting or other “ongoing activities”.

By scanning your CCSS card, you are assisting us in maintaining an accurate count of how many people are using each center annually. **If you do not have a CCSS card, please inquire at the front desk. The first card is free; replacement cards are $5 each.

If you have a question or would like more information regarding non-resident user fees, please email: cobbseniors@cobbcounty.org or call a Cobb County senior center.
