At the Cobb County Water System, we strive to provide quality water, wastewater, and stormwater management services in an effective and environmentally conscientious manner. Providing such service at a reasonable cost while protecting the environment is essential to the personal and economic well-being of the residents and businesses of Cobb County. We are able to fulfill this mission through efficient daily operation and long-range financial/capital improvement planning performed as a result of the collaborative efforts of a trained and skilled workforce.

Effective customer service, an underlying commitment of our program, is not just polite, helpful treatment of our customers. It is the delivery of dependable water service with minimal disruption. It is the collection and treatment of wastewater in a manner safe to the environment. It is the availability of our services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are firmly committed to this concept.

Even as our annual budget approaches $220 million, we are able to provide the level of service that our customers expect through rates that are among the lowest in the Atlanta region.  Through our water efficiency program, we have been able to work with our customers to reduce water demands and minimize longer term impacts. We are committed to an ongoing vigilance intended to ensure that our children will have dependable services in the future.

The Water System as an agency of Cobb County Government is a utility operation responsible for water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater management.

Cobb Water System is the first AAA-rated county water/sewer utility in the country graded the best-managed county water/sewer utility in the nation by all three Wall Street’s top bond rating agencies (Fitch IBCA, Moody’s Investors Services and Standard & Poors). According to Moody’s Investors Services, Cobb Water System shows “strong historical financial performance and a comprehensive capital plan.” It also means lower interest rates on borrowed funds. In a July 2000 "Special Comment" entitled Water and Sewer Revenue Bonds: Anatomy of a Rare Unenhanced Aaa - Rating, Moody's focuses on key attributes about Cobb County which resulted in such an exceptional financial position.

Why are we rated the best? Our policies and practices are based on sound business decisions. In place are a 20-Year Financial Planning Model and a five-year Capital Improvement Program, to meet the needs of current and future customers. These are the keys to forecasting future needs and implementing required improvements. Annual updates keep us aware of economic trends and operational requirements. As a result, our water and sewer rates are among the lowest in the 10-county metro Atlanta region.
