MONDAY

Creative Pottery Hand Building #6240
CCS membership required to participate in any activity, class, or event

In this creative pottery class, you will be responsible for maintaining, rolling and wedging your clay. You will need to bring in your own hand building project ideas you would like to work on during this 6-week session. Wear clothing you will not mind getting slightly dirty.

Learn how to create your slab-built clay projects!  Learn the basics of working with clay and various basic glazing techniques. Wear clothing you do not mind getting slightly dirty and join us for some creative fun. 

MOVE #6222

MOVE is a combination class of functional movements for the beginner exerciser, as well as the regularly active adult. It incorporates gentle barre and dance movements for core stability and balance; a simple yoga flow for restoration, flexibility and mobility; and breathing techniques for centering and stress relief. What separates this class from a standard fitness class is the combination of fall prevention methods, breathing techniques and the use of music to promote a centered, motivating, and emotionally uplifting environment.

Tai Chi-Qigong #6224

Tai Chi emphasizes complete relaxation and is essentially a form of “meditation in motion”.
Qigong (pronounced “chee-gung”) is the Chinese philosophy and practice of aligning breath,
physical activity and awareness, for improved mental and physical health and increased energy.
This class is great for joints, stretching, flexibility, and movement. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Spanish 102 #6230

This class is a continuation of Spanish 101. During this session, you will build upon basic oral and written communication skills and be well on your way to speaking Spanish!

 

TUESDAY

Beginner Yoga #6227

Beginner yoga is appropriate for those who want a softer, slow-paced and relaxing practice. The approach includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures are approached in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and repetition so that the practice is simple to do and easy to remember. A gentle yoga style encourages a highly individualized approach to practice; meeting yoga students “where they are.” All fitness levels welcome. Please bring yoga mat to class.

You will use various materials, such as wood, fabric, bamboo and glass, to create your own three-dimensional works of art.  Four projects will be completed: 3D movable sculpture piece, painted bamboo vase, painted glass, dream catcher mobile.  See how easy it is to create your own Dada style art!

Pull out your gym mat and get ready to do a series of movements that will stabilize and strengthen your body’s core. The moves may appear simple but take precision and control. There is a strong emphasis on technique. Pilates helps one to be stronger, develop muscle tone and gain flexibility. You may also develop better posture and a better sense of well-being.  All fitness levels welcome.  Please bring exercise mat to class.

 

WEDNESDAY

Strong Seniors: Total Body Conditioning #6220

Total body conditioning class offers exercises for the upper and lower body designed to increase muscular strength, balance and range of movement transitions.  Resistance bands, exercise balls and weights will be used to safely perform a variety of seated and standing choreography for effective muscular strength and endurance. Get fit and have fun to energetic music!  Resistance bands and exercise balls provided; bring your own weights.  Recommended for all fitness levels. 

Zumba Gold #6232

Zumba combines Latin rhythms with cardiovascular exercise to create a low impact aerobic
routine that is fun and easy to follow. No previous experience required. The intensity of the
moves can be modified to accommodate new students and those with previous experience.

Precious metal clay is a crafting medium consisting of very small particles of silver, gold, bronze, or copper mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewelry, beads and small sculptures which are then fired in a kiln. During this class you will complete four projects: a pendant, pair of earrings, bracelet and one item of your choice.

Discover the excitement of painting freely while learning acrylic technique tips along the way. This class is an excellent opportunity to be creative. Several paintings will be completed depending on individual speed and level of detail.  This is a good opportunity for returning artists to further develop their personal style, improve color, and design skills.  All levels welcome; no previous experience necessary.

Cardio Fusion is a fun filled, aerobic workout that will raise your heartbeat, to improve your cardiovascular endurance, and your mood. The formats included are dance and kickboxing techniques.  We use easy to follow choreography performed to popular music making this class excellent for every level of exerciser.

Some of the most notorious and widely publicized crimes of all time will be examined during this class. All cases are approached in the form of a cautionary tale by looking at the behavior of the criminal and what can be learned from the mistakes of the victims in each crime.  A variety of contemporary and historical crimes will be discussed.

Low Impact Aerobics #6229

Low-impact aerobic exercise minimizes the force on your bones and joints, reducing your risk of injury and makes this type of exercise ideal for beginners or seniors.  Low impact shouldn't be confused with low intensity; low-impact activity can still significantly raise heart rate and benefit cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Get a good work out while protecting bones and joints! Please bring a small towel to class.

Intermediate Yoga #6228

Take your yoga practice to the next level. This flow-based class will help bring greater flexibility, strength, and sense of connection to the body. Class will begin with breathing and meditation techniques and move into an exploration into what the body is capable of today. Modifications are provided, however, this class is best suited for those with yoga experience. Your body and mind will feel restored and renewed! Please bring your yoga mat to class.    

Acoustic Guitar #6234

Learn the basics of playing acoustic guitar in a casual setting. Topics covered include how to tune your instrument, basic chords and strumming techniques. You should be able to play a simple piece by the end of the session. You must bring your own acoustic guitar and picks.
