Last two concerts in free summer series at Mable House

The Candlelite Concert Series at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre will conclude with performances from Soulhound on Aug. 19 and Red Head Diamond on Sept. 16. Soulhound plays groove-oriented R&B, soul and greasy funk of the late 1960s and 1970s. Red Head Diamond plays smooth California-style 1970s rock, such as Linda Ronstadt's greatest hits and favorites by Fleetwood Mac.

Parking and admission are free and tables that seat six directly in front of the stage are available for $60 per show. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at or the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre box office noon-6 p.m., Tuesdays-Saturdays. The amphitheatre is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. Cobb Swimmer's Dominate State

The Cobb County state swim team participated in the Georgia Recreation and Park's Association (GRPA) State 'A' swim meet at the Cumming Aquatic Center in July. The participants for the state team were swimmers that qualified at the Patti Wilder swim meet at the Mountain View Aquatic Center. Cobb had over 100 swimmers participating in the GRPA State Swim Meet and Cobb swimmers took first place in 24 events at the state meet. You can view all the winners here. The head coach for the state swim team this year was coach Doug Michalke and his assistant coaches were Julie Brophy, Gabriel Bellott-McGrath and Nathon Burwick. 'Learn to Play' Tennis Program for Adults and Youth

Tennis Apprentice adultCobb Tennis Centers and USTA-Atlanta are teaming up once again to provide an opportunity for beginner youth and adults to learn how to play tennis. Sponsored by USTA-Atlanta, the 'Tennis Apprentice' program provides instruction to teach beginners to play tennis and work towards the goal of competing in beginner leagues. Students enrolled in the program will receive a free tennis racket and free USTA membership! All this for $50 ($49 for youth) for six weeks of instruction.
