Share your input on county budget; attend town halls and hearings

Chairman Mike Boyce is seeking public input on the new Cobb budget through a series of upcoming town hall meetings throughout the county. The 7 p.m. events are scheduled for June 18 at the East Cobb Senior Center, June 19 at the North Cobb Senior Center, June 20 at the Senior Wellness Center, June 25 at the Freeman Poole Senior Center, June 27 at the West Cobb Senior Center, June 28 at the South Cobb Community Center and July 9 at Sewell Mill Library.

The Board of Commissioners will also hold three public hearings on the county millage and budget. They will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, and 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 25. All three hearings will be held in the BOC Room on the second floor of 100 Cherokee St., Marietta. The July 10 and 25 hearings will be held as part of the BOC's regular monthly meetings.

Don't miss great family movies around county this summer

The Summer Movie Series, presented by Kaiser Permanente, continues Saturday, June 16, with a free screening of "Wonder" at Sewell Mill Cultural Art Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta. Pre-movie festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. and include games, music and arts and crafts. The movie will start at dark.
Other upcoming movie screenings in the series include "The Greatest Showman" Friday, June 22, at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, "Peter Rabbit" Saturday, July 14, at Seven Spring Water Park and "Coco" Thursday, July 26, at the Art Place Mountain View.

Park Preview Days

There are 2 opportunities to see properties recently purchased for use as county parks. On Saturday, June 23rd, you are cordially invited to preview the new park property located at 4055 Ebenezer Road in Marietta. The preview will be held from 10:00am-noon. You are welcome to fish at the lake and walk your dog (be sure to bring doggy clean-up bags). Onsite parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.

On Friday, July 20th, you are invited to bring the family out for a special sneak peek of 94 beautiful acres on the new Kemp Park property located at 4331 Burnt Hickory Road in Marietta. Again, parking is limited, so car pool if you can. This preview will also take place from 10:00am – 12:00pm.

Family Tennis Night at Fair Oaks Tennis Center

'Family Tennis Night' is all about spending quality time with your family and participating in a fun activity together. Fair Oaks Tennis Center along with USTA Southern is hosting a Family Tennis Night 6:30-8 p.m., Saturday, June 23. Space is limited so register today on the event web site. If you have never been on a tennis court before, this is your opportunity to bring your family out and learn something new and fun together! There will be loaner rackets available if you need one.
